I had three hours to get in a long ride. In fact, I had to cut it short and take a detour to get back home in time! 😅
This was the second longest ride of the year at 26 miles, even with the shortcut!
As with all recent rides, the conditions were very good. Very dry, slightly chilly to begin with, but a very enjoyable journey indeed in the spring sunshine.
The route was planned to use primarily public byways, bridal paths, marked tracks that were cycleable. This is to minimise having to lift my heavy electric mountain bike over any obstacles like styles, etc.
All the gates shown in my pictures were easily swung open to pass through to allow for horses. This makes it easy for me also 😁.
There are some narrow tracks where it can be tricky to negotiate with wide handlbars. Clipping a post can be very unfortunate as I have experienced in the past! There are also many lovely places out in the countryside that cannot be seen from any roads. So quiet and peaceful too.
Todays ride could easily have been ten miles longer if I had cycled the whole route but I ran out of time. 🤷
A few more pictures of some of the more open tracks across fields that give some perspective on the wide variety of different trails there are here. I am exploring more soon!
