Finished. Well i think i predicted nearly every single major plot point before it happened. and that isn't great because imo this story should have played out entirely differently if the author had thought through the consequences of the time logic more. practically everyone should have known or been highly suspicious of the fact that the libra didnt return, meaning that they were very likely in a IFT, and the moment anything from Libra looped back around everyone should have been 100% certain they were in an IFT and been searcihng for the libra.
the way that shannon was written was... awful. she was written like she was james bond or rambo and i guess the author took the advice "write women the same way you write men" to heart which i think was wrong. it made her stupid, reckless, and caused way more harm that could have been avoided. i think a real woman agent in this situation would have behaved much more rationally, calmly, not rushed into situations where she had zero backup or contingencies, not blindly trusted random men, etc.
it was very clear from the very first chapter that this was written by a very stereotypical cishet white guy that hasn't thought much about perspectives outside his own. shannon's characterization was... awful. i had so much higher hopes for this book.
3 stars from me.
