A monument of my city [eng/spa]

Every day, when I leave work, I have to walk a few streets of Paseo Avenue. On this route, I always walk very close to one of the most striking monuments in that area. I am referring to the work dedicated to Major General Alejandro Rodriguez y Velasco, who, according to this piece on its plaque, was the first popularly elected mayor of the city.
The monument is located exactly on Paseo Avenue, between Linea and Calzada Avenues. It is also very close to the emblematic Meliá Cohiba Hotel and Havana's Malecón, so its position is undoubtedly privileged in the capital.

Cada día, cuando salgo de mi trabajo, debo recorrer algunas calles de la avenida Paseo. En este trayecto, siempre camino muy cerca de uno de los monumentos más llamativos de esa zona. Me refiero a la obra dedicada al Mayor General Alejandro Rodríguez y Velasco, que según refiere esta pieza en su tarja, constituye el primer alcalde de elección popular que tuvo la ciudad.
El monumento está ubicado exactamente en la avenida Paseo, entre las avenidas Línea y Calzada. También está muy cercano al emblemático hotel Meliá Cohiba, y al Malecón habanero, así que sin dudas, su posición es privilegiada en la capital.

I have visited this site hundreds of times, but sometimes we get carried away by routine, and we miss the chance to enjoy spaces with such historical and architectural richness as this one.
The monument is about 3 meters high, and it is very impressive the way the figure of Rodriguez y Velasco is arranged, who stands on top of a vigorous horse. The horse is standing on its legs, symbolizing victory in the most fervent battles.

Este sitio lo he recorrido cientos de veces, pero en ocasiones nos dejamos llevar por la rutina, y perdemos la posibilidad de disfrutar de espacios con una riqueza histórica y arquitectónica como este. El monumento tiene unos 3 metros de altura, y resulta muy imponente la forma en que está dispuesta la figura de Rodríguez y Velasco, quien se erige encima de un vigoroso caballo. El caballo está parado en sus patas, lo que simboliza que se ha obtenido la victoria en las más fervientes batallas.

The monument is built in marble, and on its front there is the image of a man who looks like a warrior, using bronze as material in this element of the set.
Some parts of this work present black graffiti; but in spite of it, the monument conserves its majesty and historical value.

El monumento está construido en mármol, y en su frente se observa la imagen de una hombre que luce como un guerrero, usando el bronce como material en este elemento del conjunto.
Algunas partes de esta obra presentan grafitis de color negro; pero a pesar de ello, el monumento conserva su majestuosidad y valor histórico.
