Same here. I dreamed of having a large Victorian library. But upon moving to Japan, all my books went into storage in my parent's basement. Every visit home, I discard more of them. I just can't justify paying to send them here. Although I definitely prefer physical, I can't ignore the tremendous advantage of Kindle and ebooks, and that is primarily where my book collection sits these days.

Interesting to read about your similar experience. I kept on buying books for several years here in Japan too. I still do buy physical books from time to time, especially academic ones that are not available in digital format. There's a second hand bookshop in Hiroshima that has a big stock of English language books where retired university professors would dump their collections.
