Of recent, I did something cool for myself, something I have been procrastinating to do.
Yes, this has been lingering for almost a month now.
And I always find the perfect excuse to keep pushing it to the next day and next.
It made me remember the saying that tomorrow is unending and an infinite date.
I wonder how those excuses to push something one could easily do at the moment come, those unseen whispers of confidence that "don't worry, you will do it tomorrow" emerges.
Procrastination happens to all humans both to the focused and the unfocused because it comes with a backup plan.
An example of a backup plan : I plan to go to the market to buy foodstuffs by 9am in the morning, all of a sudden I decide to move it in the afternoon when coming back from work.
Then after work it was very sunny, I now decided to do it in the evening when the sun comes down.
Yes, you know how the story ended.
Okay, let me fill you in
I came back exhausted, wanted to rest for a while, and ended up sleeping until late in the evening.
And that's it, the shopping is moved to the next day.
I ate snacks and counted the celling until the next day.
Procrastination happens smoothly, and gradually, before you know it, it's a done deal.
Procrastination is proudly sponsored by lots of factors, and the most common ones I battle with are distractions, feeling overwhelmed, Task aversion, decision fatigue, and state of health.
In as much as I promise myself to get something done, most often distractions cause me to procrastinate.
Most times, I tend to procrastinate when I have a lot of things to do,thereby making me drop some for later to forever.
I also procrastinate when it's something I don't really like doing, or when I can make and stand on my decision or when I am stressed or not feeling too strong.
I am getting these things in check and hopefully eliminate procrastination totally.
