Greetings!
Power generation has always been a source of concern in my area. Though, it's supposed to be one of those things to be made available to us the citizens of the country. But due to the events of things on the part of the hierarchy, everything in those sectors have been left unattended to which is even causing more havoc on the economy and other aspects of our daily life.
Now, because of lack of power supply, so many communities have been left in total darkness and this has really led to people jumping into other options of power into their various homes or households. Part of such a way of generating power as a result of lack of power supply is through generating sets, otherwise known as generator and solar power supply. So, I would not want to dwell much on the one we are used to which is the normal power supply as I have said so much about it.
Now, back to the topic of the prompt we are to discuss, I would like to limit my discussion on the other two options provided to the individual household as a result of the epileptic supply of the normal power to the various communities.
Though, I would have preferred the normal supply to other means of supply, even at any rate, but due to the lack of its supply to us, I would rather go for the solar power supply. One thing I know is that, no one would go for what's not available and as a result, I would go for something that I believe would be made available if I have the capacity to get it for myself.
So, solar power supply is a means of generating power via the sun and since it's been discovered, it's solved a lot of problems being faced by the lack of normal power supply. Though too expensive to get and install, this form of power supply has really helped to fill the vacuum being left behind by the dearth in the supply of normal power to the various households. Though, there's nothing that has advantages without disadvantages, but to be candid, the use of solar power has done well to the masses and has even reduced the stress of no light in our community.
In my community where the normal supply of power has not been that consistent, the majority of the households have resulted in getting solar lights and panels. Though it all depends on what they can afford. But notwithstanding, this has really helped in curbing darkness caused by lack of normal supply to the community. Aside this, for those that can afford the solar panel at the higher rate, they have also been able to enjoy not the light alone, but their home appliances such as freezers, blender, washing machine and others which have been abandoned for so long by the lack of consistent power supply to the community. Now, people are helping themselves as a result of the government or power distribution failure to help.
Though, there's also disadvantages to the use of the solar power which cannot be compared to that of the normal of power supply which people believe is more powerful than that of the solar, but notwithstanding, people are at least enjoying what they have got with their money unlike paying electricity bills without the supply of the power.
Also, another disadvantage of this is what happens when there's no sun. This used to happened mostly during the raining season when instead of the sun shining, it's always cloudy atmosphere and for this reason, it would be hard for the solar panel to charge which could cause the power not to be supplied, but with this, it's still better when compared to the epileptic power supply being experienced through the normal power supply.
Though, the use of generators would have also been preferred most especially when some have been converted to using gas instead of petrol. But the exorbitant price of both the gas and petrol or diesel to fuel the generator is another factor that would not make me go for the use of a generator. So, for this reason, I would stick with the use of solar as my means of power supply. Like I said earlier, the use of generators would have been the best. But not everyone can afford buying petrol, gas and diesel on a daily basis. But for solar, once gotten, it's gotten.
So, the use of solar cannot be overemphasized as it's taking over from other sources of power supply. It's the one now making lives worth living, even the government who are the one saddled with the responsibility of making normal power supply available are now making use of the solar power. If you walk across the stress like I did yesterday, you will see solar powered street lights, they also make use of it in their various offices and parastatals and even their officials at their homes.
Also, the various household appliances have also been produced using solar power. The refrigerators of this world have now been manufactured with powering it, we now have solar fans, solar television, solar radio and countless other appliances being made of solar power. Indeed, the advent and discovery of solar power has really come to stay and not only that, it's really made life easy and lively for humans and saved us from the hand of epileptic normal power supply.
