A Rare Trip to My LCS

I took yesterday off to help out a buddy, so I decided to visit my local coin store afterward. They're normally closing by the time I get off work, and trying to navigate lunch hour traffic to get to them during the week is a nightmare, so that usually only leaves Saturdays. With two kids, of course, Saturdays are typically busy, so I usually end up not being able to go at all. This time, I made it a priority.

With silver pushing almost $34/ounce, I wasn't surprised to see they had a decent silver selection. Likewise, since gold had recently been enjoying new highs over $3500/ounce, people have been selling their gold as well. With the cost of everything still up, it makes sense.

I always forget they only charge $1 over spot for silver. That's even lower than my online dealer, and I don't have to pay shipping. I'll be making it a point to come back on Saturdays and bring my two boys so they can pick out some coins.

My youngest son has started playing with some of the random coins I have on display on my nightstand, so I figured I would redirect that interest to coins of his own. I did pick up some new pieces for the Secret Silver Fondle Stash that I'll be sharing in upcoming posts.

I couldn't just get something for myself, so I grabbed four silver quarters for the boys. Chaos would break out if they had to share, and I'm sure there would be complaints if they "only got one."

My youngest son was super happy and proceeded to play with the coins in the living room. I'm certain he left them somewhere, and we'll come across them later while picking up toys. My oldest son was disappointed it wasn't a new toy since he's obsessed with toys right now. So, two quarters are still sitting on my nightstand in case he changes his mind. If he still doesn't want them, they'll go in the secret stash.

Stay tuned for more posts of the interesting pieces I got!

That's great! Only $1 over spot is a great deal! The jeweler I like to buy from sells stuff to me at spot, but then again he buys them for much less. Lately he just hasn't had anything good sold to him, old jewelry mainly. Great job on that buy, and your son had fund playing with them is a bonus too. Good luck picking up the toys and finding the lost silver!

You have created a Precious Gem!

It is so neat youre getting them involved so early on. My youngest is out of the house and started when he still lived with us. He has since left what he collected here with us and stopped for now as he can't hardly afford to pay his rent let alone buy coins right now. They will be here for him though when his lot in life improves, as I am sure it will. I look forward to that day so we can continue collecting together.

Congratulations

I am among the financially stable that is still buying gold for the long haul. I often see individuals selling at the coin shops I visit. Becoming a more common sight to sell collections and jewelry for cash to meet expenses.
On the other hand, the local coin show I am seeing more buyers looking for Precious metals to preserve wealth. I came across a young couple asking lots of questions on bullion coins.
It's great knowing your son is getting excited about stacking.

US quarters are the best buys for your money!
