Canadian Silver Quarters

Dei Gratia Regina Elizabeth II, with caribou, 25 cents, also called quarters.
also bought from our Canadian friend.

Those are the three same coins, both sides

Price when bought : 6 USD each
From various years and in a good state, not encapsulated.

Those are the very first coins I ordered from a different source than my local specialist. But not the first purchase from our friend.
But if the customs continue to tax such things, I won't order any time soon as it is, unfortunately, not worth it.

My pictures are not the best quality, reason why I added official pictures from local providers.

The question :

Do you also collect coins from abroad, or only from your own country?
And why? :)

Have a nice day !

O.J.Towards Financial Freedom!
_70b0358e-3901-4271-9baa-0e4ab37b7fa2.jpg@independance is my path to financial freedom, via precious metal stacking. I try to achieve this to bring a heritage for my family. I'll post about my progress as well as anecdotes.

See you all Soon.

Sort:

I've inherited my collection from my father when it contained a variety of international silver coins. Most of coins were of the British Commonwealth coinage that were in and around the two world wars. My Great Grandfather operated a diner at a Train stop in a Canadian prairie town. Military personnel and train crews came in for a quick meal as the train took on water, fuel, and passengers.
Business was good every time the train stopped by.
Silver coins were accepted regardless of country; Australia, United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Italy and even the odd German.
The Bank didn't accept all the silver, resulting in this collection and my great grandfather took it in stride as doing his part for the War.

Because Canada is a member of the Commonwealth I have Silver Britannias and being only an hours drive from the US Border I also have American Eagles and US Constitutional silver.
I have a relative across the border that refuses to believe how fragile the current system is, so I have some for him if he should be in dire need. Otherwise, I can shop across the border.

until the postal fees become annoying :)

This is an interesting story. The power of silver!
