Joy in the Eyes of a Poor Man

in FreeCompliments14 days ago

Today something happened to me that shook me to the core It was a simple situation but it affected me in an abnormal way I was walking in the street after a long and tiring day and my mind was occupied with many thoughts things about work about the future about things I want to achieve and still canot.

As I was passing by a street corner an old man caught my attention sitting on the sidewalk with signs of fatigue evident on him His clothes were very simple and his eyes had a strange look a look of a mixture of fatigue surrender and a simple hope still attached to life He was holding a bag in his hand with some simple things and it was clear that he was waiting for someone to help him.

I dont know what made me stop maybe a strange feeling attracted me maybe his eyes that spoke many things without him speaking I approached him and asked him if he needed anything and He simply and in a calm voice said to me Whatever comes is good and a blessing and this sentence alone is enough to make you think of many things.

I took money out of my pocket and gave him a good amount not a huge amount but it definitely made a difference to him and The moment the money touched his hand I saw something I will never forget I saw genuine joy in his eyes pure unfeigned joy like a little child who suddenly found his favorite gift and He smiled a heartfelt smile and said to me May God honor you my son and bless you in what you have.

The truth is I was the one who needed that moment more than him I needed to feel that there was something real something that gives meaning to life away from the whirlpool of work and responsibilities Sometimes giving is not only for those in need giving gives you a sense of purity contentment and that you are able to add something simple but influential to someone elses life.

Giving doesnt have to be big nor does it have to be material It could be a kind word a smile or a little help but in the end its the little things that make a big difference Today the joy I saw in the eyes of a poor person was my biggest reward.
