Dredging nowadays doesn't require any mercury does it?
No. Mercury can be useful in catching flour gold, especially the tiny flakes that can float on water (yes small flakes can float!) I've never used it personally because it's so toxic but have known guys who will use it at home to catch gold. No one uses it in the outdoors anymore, it's to toxic. Dredges just suck up sand and gravel and run it over a sluice, they're a lot of fun! Up there in Canada you might need a wet suit to dredge because mountain water can be a little chilly! !lol

Brr, you're telling me. I remember the last time I 'tried' to take a dip along the creeks and rivers here. They run pretty cold even in the summer.
