My wife's garden

in HiveGarden7 days ago

Greetings!

Planting crops and vegetables has always been something I cherished so much, but recently, I have not been able to plant anything due to my relocation from our village to the city where I live now.

So, the busyness of the city, coupled with my apartment where I was living when I relocated to the city didn't really give me any chance to plant anything. Unlike when I was in the village with my people. Where there's time and space for planting, but now, it's a different thing entirely.

My love for planting cannot be overemphasized as going to the backyard to pluck okra and other vegetables and pepper to cook my meal has always been part and parcel of me. This is something I have been used to all the way long. So, growing up with my parents has brought me to that level and even as an adult, I'm used to that kind of a life, but the situation of things is now telling on me.

But recently, as I was planning to tie the knot with the love of my life, I decided to move from my initial apartment to a new one. Thank God that my new place has enough space without being concreted. Though I have ample time, even though the place can be used for planting, I have no time to do that.

But, thank God I got married to a village girl like me. My wife fortunately is also a village girl from my village. What a coincidence. Not only that, she's also brought up the way I was brought up and she also loves planting vegetables and other crops.

So, as I was coming from work on a particular day, she asked me to help her get okra seed which I did. But when i got home, i was surprised she tilled the small portion of land in the compound and the only thing she was waiting for was to plant or sow the seeds into the tilled ground, which she did immediately. I handed over the seed to her.

Now, because of her love for backyard gardens, she would always water the planted seed every morning and evening and to my greatest surprise, within a few weeks, the seeds had germinated into the plant and what we are now doing is harvesting it. This seriously made it easy for us to cook what we desire to eat as everything is at our disposal in our backyard.

Not only this, the last time she went to the village, she brought along with her plantain sucker and also cassava sticks which we also planted and I believe very soon, we would also harvest our plantain and cassava. She also planted cocoyam

So, my wife's garden is not just a garden, it's a garden that has been feeding us and very soon, with her plans of planting varieties of vegetables and pepper, her garden will soon be feeding the neighborhood.

This is my entry to the hive garden weekly prompt.

Thanks for reading.

I hate it when people concrete gardens!
