Stepping out of the church after Mass today, I stood at the entrance, enjoying the view of the city space in and around the church's environment.
As I took in the sights and sounds of the city, my gaze shifted to the other side of the Waterside river, called "River layout". Beautiful buildings, trees, flowers, and houses, all bathed in warm sunlight, and the bright sky added to the overall sense of serenity.
It was a sight that I couldn't miss capturing, so I quickly grabbed my phone and started clicking away, capturing every stunning view that caught my eyes.
Turning to my right, a little far off, stood this prestigious school, Mercy Girls Secondary School, whose history dates back to the year 1988 as the first girls' mission school established after the civil war in eastern Nigeria. The school is managed by Reverend Sisters of the Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy (DMMM) congregation, and has stood the test of time.
Right inside the school's compound, the freshly pruned palm trees stood tall and radiant. Interestingly, just a few months ago, these trees had been a haven for bats, which had caused damage to the buildings around, and the trees themselves.
A closer view had me capturing the Marian Grotto. It was built by the women's group of the parish, and donated to the church.
As I descended the stairs, I captured this shot.
And then this one, the back view of another school premises, Adventist Secondary Technical School.
Then I began my journey down the hill, taking in the sights one last time. A little down the hill, I stopped to take one last shot, and that was the church.
Perched atop the hill, St Ambrose Catholic Parish, Aba, embodied serenity and tranquility. It's beauty and charm were further elevated by the monochrome hues, creating a breathtaking sight.
As I journeyed home, I felt grateful for the little time I spent exploring the sights around the church. It is priceless.
