I think we don't make friends because friends are not a thing to choose. We became friends with others based on the similarities or personalities of a person. So I believe if we are good then we find good persons as friends except if someone comes into our life and pretends to be our friend for any specific reason.

        I totally agree with you, we don't make friends, we become friends with people of same personalities a lot of times.
