In addition to the eye strain caused by prolonged use of digital devices, there are constant interruptions we face when attempting to read from our phones, making concentration difficult.
We know that today it is challenging to disconnect from digital devices, and putting our phones on airplane mode to dedicate time to reading requires considerable willpower.
All these inconveniences can be solved by visiting a library, as it is typically something we would inform our family and friends about, making it clear we won’t be available during our time there.
Another advantage of libraries is that they serve as neutral and comfortable meeting spaces for study groups. Using one member's home often involves costs for the host, such as offering refreshments, which could represent an extra expense that disrupts the family budget.
I’m sure you all may have plenty of other reasons to love going to a library and enjoying that almost magical space where reading and studying is a special and enriching experience.
For this reason, despite modern technology that puts any title we want within a click's reach, I doubt that public and private libraries will become obsolete or disappear. Quite the contrary, I believe having paper books will become akin to owning a piece of art, and special editions will become part of collections, much like today’s first editions of the most famous works in history are coveted and worth immeasurable fortunes.

También debemos considerar que no todas las personas tienen acceso a un lector de libros digital o una tableta exclusiva para la lectura, y leer desde la pantalla de un teléfono móvil no es lo más cómodo para la vista.
Sumado al cansancio visual que produce el uso prolongado de dispositivos digitales, están las interrupciones constantes que enfrentamos al intentar leer desde nuestros teléfonos móviles, lo que dificulta la concentración.
Sabemos que hoy en día es difícil desconectarse de los dispositivos digitales, y poner nuestros móviles en modo avión para dedicarnos a la lectura implicaría un gran esfuerzo de voluntad.
Todos esos inconvenientes se solucionarían al acudir a una biblioteca, ya que normalmente es algo que comunicaríamos a nuestros padres y amigos, dejando claro que no estaremos disponibles mientras estemos en ese lugar.
Además de estas ventajas, las bibliotecas son un lugar de reunión neutral y cómodo para los grupos de estudio, ya que utilizar la casa de alguno de los miembros implica siempre un costo para el anfitrión al ofrecer algún tipo de refrigerio a los compañeros. Muchas veces, esto puede representar un gasto extraordinario que desbalancearía el presupuesto familiar.
Estoy segura de que ustedes tendrán muchas otras razones por las que aman ir a una biblioteca y disfrutar de ese espacio casi mágico en el que leer y estudiar es una experiencia especial y enriquecedora.
Por eso, a pesar de la tecnología actual que pone cualquier título que queramos al alcance de un clic, dudo que las bibliotecas públicas y privadas queden obsoletas o desaparezcan. Muy por el contrario, creo que tener libros en papel será algo parecido a poseer una obra de arte, y las ediciones especiales serán parte de colecciones, como hoy en día las primeras ediciones de las obras más famosas de la humanidad, que son objeto de deseo y valen fortunas incalculables.
