On Sunday, April 20, 2025, we were blessed with our second baby boy, Alhamdulillah! Our eldest son has a younger brother now, and we welcome the newest member of our family. Both the mother and the newborn are doing well, Alhamdulillah!
Although we are at ease now, Alhamdulillah, it wasn't an easy journey throughout the pregnancy, especially during the last few days. It was a somewhat complicated pregnancy. From the start, there were instances of occasional bleeding, which required her to take additional hormonal medications that wouldn't typically be necessary in an uncomplicated pregnancy. She was advised to rest completely and avoid any hard or heavy work. As a result, I took on her tasks to help her out!
The complication arose due to the position of the placenta, which was low-lying, a condition known as placenta previa. This situation resulted in preterm labor, characterized by bleeding and contractions, on April 19th. Given the position of the placenta, the doctor decided to terminate the pregnancy through an emergency C-section.
Despite the administration of necessary and available measurements, including steroid injections to the mother prior to birth, the newborn experienced a severe case of respiratory distress immediately after delivery. He was placed in the NICU for care. Since his condition did not improve with oxygen provided through a nasal cannula, he was placed on a CPAP machine. After 12 hours, his condition began to improve gradually, and by 48 hours, he was breathing without the need for supplemental oxygen. Meanwhile, his blood bilirubin levels were found to be elevated, so he was placed in a phototherapy capsule for over 12 hours.
On the fourth day after delivery, we were discharged from the hospital. A new challenge began. In a foreign land without any relatives, it was difficult to manage an operated mother and a premature newborn. Alhamdulillah, my wife's condition improved quite rapidly, which made it easier for me to handle everything on my own. I am grateful for this and hope that Allah will continue to make things easy for us!
After all the hardship, we are indeed blessed with one of the biggest blessings in this world. Alhamdulillah! Alhamdulillah!!
Okay. That's all for today. Alhamdulillah, we are alive, healthy, and thriving. How about you?
