I live naked and barefooted, very close to Earth and Nature, in an 18-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i, and I have for more than 5 years now. Although there are many challenges, I love my life, and I'm immensely grateful to live where and how I do, on my own terms! I would not want to live any other way! 😁🙏💚⚡💥🔥✴️✳️❇️👣🌱✨🤙
Warm greetings all! 😁🙏💚✨🤙
My post today is written entirely to draw the community's attention to the very shocking and sad event that happened very recently to Benjamin (@ironshield) and his wife (@lturner), whose account keys were compromised, locking them both out. This double-lockout occurred because each account used the other as its recovery account, making recovery basically impossible. It was only a couple days ago that I heard about what happened, and I was in such shock, both for their 8+ years of assets lost, as well as just imagining what I would do if it had happened to me.
I didn't get in touch with Benjamin immediately, partly due to the shock that I still felt, and because I didn't know exactly what to say or how to help, but help I did very much want to do. He's been in my mind since I head about what happened, so today I went to the account that he's using now, @gratefuleveryday, and I read his most recent post, published just a few hours ago, I'm GRATEFUL for the HIVE community! You are all amazing! Thank you so much., in which he expreses his deep gratitude for the kindness and support that he's received from the Hive community, and even forgiveness for the individual that stole their accounts and most of their assets. Curiously, the thief actually returned several high-value layer-2 tokens to him (to @gratefuleveryday), in an apparent act of mercy.
I have to admit that I had quite a few tears welling up as I read his post, both for his indomitable gratitude and desire to rebuild, and for the great assistance that he's received from this beloved Blockchain community. Benjamin is from my perspective a truly good human, and an exceptional Hiver, so yeah, I want to help him rebuild, too. I don't entirely know how I will be able to help him yet, but to at least start, I added @gratefuleveryday to my list of auto-votes. I'll also share his posts, since certain larger curaration accounts often upvote posts that I upvote and reblog, which I deeply appreciate.
What would you or I do if this what happened to Benjamin and his wife, happened to us? The thought of losing 3.25 years of building, growing, and saving here in this extraordinary Blockchain Ecosystem leaves me feeling numb, and Benjamin had significantly more time at it than me. I can barely even imagine it, to have so much work lost. Would I stay and rebuild if I experienced this? Would you?
For my part, knowing me, after recovering from my numb shock, I would indeed. I've experienced devastating loss in multiple contexts, and one thing that I've come to appreciate about myself is that I don't give up, and that I rebound quickly. I've also learned so incredibly much about how to leverage and grow assets over the past 3+ years, that if this were to happen to me, I know that I would be able to grow faster than when I first started. The last thing that I will say on this right now is to reiterate how ridiculously important it is to be certain that we protect our keys!
Yesterday, Sunday, I left the Flow House, after wrapping up my Hive tasks, a little after 2:30PM, focusing first on some photography for these posts, ordering my new replacement laptop (it's done, so new laptop on the way!), and buzzing my head and face (I was looking the part of a wild jungle man quite well...lol!). With those tasks completed, I got my machete and collected a wheelbarrow full of assorted edible foliage for cow-milking food, after which I devoted more time to cleaning up, collecting, and sifting the last little bit of soil in my old nursery. It's basically ready for me to start bringing plants from my newer, presently derilict nursery, which is excellent! When I finished up in my nursery, I cleaned up, then I made myself some food (mini spiced and seasoned beef patties, pepper back cheese, and honey and horseradish mustards) in the Landing, and with that and my jar of leftover superfood fire coffee in hand, I headed back to the Flow House, to dive into my evening Hive tasks, and to catch up on my notifications. I got everything done by around 9:30PM, and after some asset management, scanning my X feed, experimenting and playing around with Grok 3, and beginning to learn Python, I went to bed just a bit after 12AM. I woke up just before 7:30AM, after having slept well, doing more asset management, writing and publishing My 143rd Sunday Weekly Hive Goals and Progress Update: 3/3 Weekly Goals Achieved, and 9,000 HP This Week!, then getting out of bed to go make my superfood fire coffee in the Landing, and finally returning again to the Flow House to write this post. It's now just after 1:15PM, so a great time to end this post, so that I may get to my few other important Hive tasks, before leaving the Flow House a little later in the afternoon, to give my attention first to photography for these posts, straining and blending kefir (kefir-honey-cinnamon-cacao), and then community/land work. I deeply appreciate y'all so very much! Until tomorrow's expression of this post! Always forward, onward, upward, and whaleward, ho, together we go! 😁🙏💚✨🤙
2025 Life Goals
1.) Do regular integral practices again, alone or with others.
2.) Prepare regular batches of my medicinal teas collected from the land again.
3.) Make my plant nursery, and the gardens, beautiful again.
4.) Begin learning relevant coding/programming languages to more fully contribute to the sovereignty-driven technologies where I am active, like Arch Linux, Hive, Qortal, DeSo, and Bastyon.
All photos were taken with my Motorola G Play 2024 Android Phone.
Thank you all so much who have helped me get to where I am today, and allowing me to share more of the beauty and magic from my life and my world with you, and for your continuous appreciation and support! I am truly deeply grateful! 😁🙏💚✨🤙
