I do not know what came over the government to float a writing competition among high school students. Maybe they want to encourage all to be prolific in writing and reading as well. It has been observed however that students, high school students, hardly read and write these days.
Pristine High School decided to nominate Jane for the competition. Jane was elated by the selection. She started preparing in earnest with the firm belief that she'll win the grand prize and return with it to the school. If that happens she will become the talk of the moment.
As she was preparing for the showdown, her tutor came in and gave her some words of encouragement. Don't plagiarise, he said. Be organic, be original and watch how you'll excel to the top.
The D-day came and Jane joined other representatives from other schools and wore her own piece. Jane's writing was unique and original. Her work stood out from the rest. The panel of judges had no difficulty alin awarding her with the highest score. Jane felt on top of the world at that moment. She knows after that event that she will become the toast of the town.
