Working in a road construction company can be more tasking especially for those driving articulated vehicles and other heavy duty trucks. That was what Rex discovered later, having worked on the industry for over five years now.
When Rex took up the job at Craneburg Inc as a heavy duty driver, he never knew that there is life and death in the said job. He was thinking it is one of those jobs where you'll simply mount the machine, steer the wheels and all that. He never knew that more is required of him too, patience and determination.
It was a sunny afternoon. Rex was working in a yard as usual, loading and unloading some trucks with some construction materials. He was driving crane that day. A particular truck came in and he was required to offloaded it immediately. As usual, he raised the hook of the crane, dragged a bag out of the parked truck. The said bag will be loaded into another waiting truck.
Rex has been doing this particular job for fortnight now without any hitches. But this day was a different day. As he dragged the heavy bag, he forgot to hook it properly. And the safety officer was not even watching him. Boom, the unexpected happened as the wrongly hooked bag fell off from the hook of the crane and landed on the head of a driver who was about to enter his own truck and drive away.
There were shouts of help from those around but the truth of the matter is that the man could not survive the incident. He had a painful departure.
