This is my post for #freewriters 2712 prompt empire of nothing hosted by @mariannewest

I hope everyone had a nice Easter and that you remembered what Easter is about. It is fun to color eggs and hide them and tell little kids the Easter bunny hid them. But it confuses them when they find out the truth.

Yesterday, on our way to Church, my sister's youngest granddaughter was close to tears when she told us that some kid in her school told her that the Easter Bunny was not real. I told her he is real, but only in our imagination. Easter is about Jesus, not a bunny rabbit. She was good with my explanation.

It seems that back in the 1700s, when people moved to Pennsylvania from Germany, they brought the tradition of having a rabbit or hare named "Osterhase" or "Oschter Haws" hide colored eggs at Easter, and from that, an empire of nothing was formed and over time people seem to have forgotten what Easter is supposed to mean. Easter is a time of celebration, worship, and reflection on the significance of Jesus's resurrection. It marks the third day after his crucifixion and burial, and victory over sin and death, and the hope of salvation. I asked Alexa to get the right wording.

For me, it has been a day of rest, the only things I have accomplished today was doing the dishes and collecting grass for Rudy. I treated the rabbit instead of the rabbit treating me. I love that little guy, but for the last 488 days, I have collected different grasses, weeds, and veggies that I grow for him and it gets old doing this every day, but I can not bring myself to feed him only rabbit food when I know how much he likes fresh greens. He is my baby, and yes, I spoil him.

That's exactly what Easter stands for. That is the foundation of Christianity, the only faith whose founder died and was resurrected. Happy Easter to you friend and thanks for sharing your positive thoughts with us.

Thank you and you are welcome.
