A few days ago I decided to give Google gemini premium trial a shot, I was considering getting their phone to get a year free but my Samsung s22 ultra is still pretty good so I think I will hold out and why not try the trial first, besides can also get the subscription without the phone but would not get the free year.
Anyway my overall experience so far has been alright I am still not sure if I will actually end up paying as there are so many free options even with google, but does this paid version make sense?
Well that is not a simple question to answer, for starters I want to be clear that so far I was not truly blown away by the any AI developments there is a lot of progress but we are still a ways away from really powerful AI let alone AGI but these tools can sure boost productivity and help in many other ways.
I was using gemini free for a long time so what is the premium difference, they are not easy to see but you are able to have faster responses and access to more advanced models, like mentioned I am not totally sold yet but so far I seen some reasonable results.
One new interesting model is called deep research,
I took it out for a test spin, I asked it to research the hive blockchain for me, and it took about 5 minutes and went through over 40 sources before it delivered a very well written report about hive, I will be honest I am fairly impressed with the result, I turned the report into a tiny url website and was going to use a url shortener but no luck the url was too big for any service I tried, so here is a link to it if you want to check out the report
That was a great report but I tried to give it another shot give me the amount of newly created accounts on hive, that took a little longer as for some reason we had to have a bit of a back and forth until I actually got the number, that is fairly neat assuming the number it gave me is legit, one can figure that out on their own by learning the account creation code and setting up a little SQL script to look through the hive chain to pull out the relevant information, I still don't know how to do that but I could work with my AI pall to set that up.

7.1 Summary of Findings
The objective of this analysis was to determine the total number of new accounts created on the Hive blockchain between April 1, 2025, 00:00:00 UTC and April 22, 2025, 15:02:00 UTC. Through direct analysis of blockchain data retrieved via public API nodes, filtering for the account_create and create_claimed_account operations within the corresponding block range (94,608,001 to 95,253,050), the total number of new accounts created during this period was determined to be 5,831. A sample list detailing these accounts was also included in the results section.
As I write this post I think I will end up paying for this service, the AI is a bit better then the free version and I feel like paying for it will make me use the AI more and that can hopefully help me get a lot more of what I am trying to do done, I hope you all don't get the wrong idea I am not trying to get AI to help me write blog content, more so brainstorming and helping me code and make other stuff maybe I can become a ghetto hive dev with the help of AI.
