It seems like the horseshoe is an universal symbol of good luck in every culture; here in Mexico, a horseshoe is held in some rural areas as an amulet for good luck. Your story also reminded me of another belief that I recently heard; in some places, putting your clothes on backwards brings good luck, but in Yucatan it seems to foreshadow death. Honestly I don't believe in any of that, but in this life everything might be possible when it comes to coincidences.

Gracias @vickaboleyn , disculpa la tardanza de mi respuesta... aunque no vivamos en el mismo país las creencias son muy similares...y mucha gente que le pone demasiada fé a ello.
