My love for Agricultural science

in Hive Reachout2 days ago

Greetings!

No doubt about the popular saying that says, “ education is the best legacy.” Truth be told, nothing can be compared to education as it's the only that can offer a lifelong legacy to an individual and to the nation at large.

Infact, I would even say that, education is the bedrock of a nation. It's the foundation on which all other sectors are being built on. No wonder there's a saying that says, “if knowledge is costly, try ignorance.” Hmmm, there's also nothing to be compared to acquiring the needed knowledge as it will always make a way when needed most.

So, as for the topic before us, which is all about my best subject in the school. Well, before I delve into the discussion per se, I would like to start with the saying which says,” if you know how to read and write, then thank your teacher.” It's on this note that I would like to tell you more about my best subject during my school days. This is because my best subject has a connection with the above popular assertion.

My love for agricultural science as a subject in my secondary school days didn't just happen out of no moon, but stemmed from my encounter with my agricultural teacher who would not give up on my general academic performance when others were giving up on me.

My junior school days were characterized with poor performances in all my subjects and for this reason, I was repeated a number of times due to poor academic performance. It's so pathetic that I know nothing when it comes to academics. In fact I was a slow learner that was always feeling dejected by others. But there's a man who would not give up on me. That man is my Agricultural science teacher, Mr Ayinde. He would always encourage me and assure me of getting there as he too has also gone through such experiences. Hmmm! Truth be told, Mr Ayinde stood by me and whenever I remembered his words of wisdom and courage, I was always feeling assured that I too will get there.

So, after many setbacks in my junior school academic pursuit, I was able to pass my junior school BECE exam, though not in flying colors, but I passed and was promoted to the Senior class. So, it's in my senior class that I picked up and this was like a dream to many of my friends and even the teachers, I too could not even believe the sudden turnaround that took place in me.

Even my parents could not believe what they were seeing in me. But, it's only my Agricultural science teacher that was not so surprised. When I asked him why he was not so surprised, he said he had known I would overcome the challenges that befell me back in the junior classes as I was a slow learner. He said he knew it. Though, the sudden change didn't just come like that, as I have also done my part in burning night candles and going for extra mural classes in the past, but all to no avail.

So, it's the events that took place in my life when I was in the JUNIOR class and how he, Mr Ayinde, my Agricultural science teacher responded to my plight back then that drew my attention to his Agricultural science subject. So, because of my love for him, I also love his taught subject which is Agricultural science. So, anytime there's a competition, because of my outstanding performance in the subject, I used to be the one to represent my class and at some point, the school. It's always a thing of joy for me. Though I was also the best in all other subjects too, my love and flare for Agricultural science cannot be overemphasized.

Apart from the love I have for my Ayinde, what the subject entails also drew my interest to it. The planting of crops and rearing animals also drew my attention to the subject. I have always loved to feed myself and the people around me and when I realized that Agricultural science can take care of that, I got to have more connection and interest to studying it even beyond my secondary school level and that was what made it my choice of course to be studied in the university. And eventually I got admitted to study the course at the university.

Now, I'm now a graduate of Agricultural extension. Not only that, I'm now into full implementation of those things studied both in the secondary and the tertiary institution. I now have my large scale farm and livestock farm.

This is my entry to the hivereachout weekly prompt.

Thanks for reading.
