Today we return with a new edition of the series A SHOT OF DRINK, whose intention is to publicize general information about beverages in the world, through its ephemeris; and as we have previously said, although we are not experts or connoisseurs of the subject, we believe that the world of drinks, juices, teas, cocktails, smoothies and others is very exciting and varied, and some general culture is good for all of us.

April 19: World Amaretto Day

Every April 19th, WORLD AMARETTO DAY is celebrated, a complex liqueur with a deep flavor, herbal and bitter notes, and a certain sweetness, where vanilla, cinnamon, and almond, as well as alcohol and caramel, combine in harmony. AMARETTO is a liqueur originating from the town of Soronno, Italy. Its creation date is dated to 1525, making it an ancient liqueur with a long history. This drink is made from almonds and apricot pits, and approximately 17 other fruits and herbs. The word AMARETTO can be translated as "little bitter," due to its predominantly bitter flavor.

The alcohol content of AMARETTO ranges between 25 and 30%. The bottle is very unique and has been standardized as a square bottle with angular cuts. This liqueur is a digestive and is said to also have aphrodisiac powers. It can be drunk neat, with ice, or in cocktails, one of the most famous being the AMARETTO SOUR, which is made with AMARETTO , lemon juice, sugar syrup, and ice cubes. It is garnished with lemon peel and/or a maraschino cherry, and egg white can be added optionally.

AMARETTO can be mixed with coffee to create a delicious drink. It also pairs wonderfully with grenadine for a sweet, cherry-flavored result. It's also used in baking, making many dessert recipes, such as tiramisu.
