Surrounded by water Wojnowice castle

Wojnowice is a very small village not far from Wroclaw in Poland. Only a few hundred people live there and and it is hidden among forests, fields, and not very popular roads. And I would have never heard about it if it wasn't for also a very small castle there.

The special part about the castle is that it is surrounded by water, this is why we call it "castle on water".

One my sister and I decided to visit another place and on the way back, since the day was not over yet and the weather was great, we popped in to see this little treasure too.

I did not know what to expect really, as I didn't see any photos of it prior to the visit. But yes - it is small. And yes - it is "on water".

The beginnings of the castle date back to the 14th century.
It was built on a rectangular plan measuring approximately 22 × 24 m, originally in a horseshoe-shaped layout, from the first half of the 16th century as a four-winged structure with an internal courtyard.
Since 21 March 2015, the castle has been open to tourists.

What was a bit disappointing was that it is a hotel now and has some rooms adapted for conferences. The only place we could get in was a small cafe. We got a coffee and sat outside watching the kitty cat snoozing at the entrance (now I dunno what was better - the castle or the cat).

Pretty fella and well fed. But he was not very social and didn't like it when someone tried to touch him. Or maybe just had enough people trying to do it..

Coffee done, time to check the little park around it.

See? There is water! Not much of it, but it is there :p

Tall trees, well kept paths and grass closer to the building. But further away it was turning into a wild forest with twisty, narrow path, bushes and branches at the face level.

Lots of little rivers and bridges just added charm to this place.

The park had a few spots prepared for gatherings with extra benches and wooden stools around a spot for a fire.

Boss Cat changed his observation spot and didn't allow anyone to sit next to him.

A last quick look at the place and it was time to go back. A very cute spot to visit I must say... but only if you are already around. It is definitely a nice spot to chill during the summer or have a coffee with friends (there were no cakes left! Would you believe?)

And just to show you how isolated the place is.. as soon as we left the car park, a few minutes walk towards the road and we got this view. Fields and forests :)

In the middle of nowhere :)

Good evening my brother.

Wow, what a comfortable place, a very suitable place to visit with friends or family, even has a garden and a place for a campfire, maybe grilling fish is a very fun thing

amazing, have a nice day my brother

I am sure many families love to spend weekends there :)

I think the cat and the castle look so beautiful in the village there are many unique things, the view of the fields and forests is so beautiful there must be fresh air there, it's really cool my friend ♥️

It was really nice and refreshing that day. Perfect day for a trip.

❤️

:)

Beautiful photos. The place is wonderful. But I adore the cat hahaha.

Thanks!

Why don't they call it a Moat?

I have no idea.

looks like the cat is the owner 😂

Maybe he reincarnated in a cat :D

Lovely castle hidden in the green forest.
Next time, people should bring their own cakes! Coffee without cakes seems a bit shocking.
That cat guards the castle well. He looks well fed and happy.
A private pond around the castle! I would go swimming in hot weather!

Next time, people should bring their own cakes!

Hahaha I would expect a coffee shop to have a least a cookie left. They had none!

So, people should bring their own cookies too! The coffee shop can’t complain when customers have coffee with their own cakes and cookies! I would bring along my own sandwiches, just in case I was really hungry!

What a beautiful castle and a wonderful nature! 😍

Thanks, it was :)

The fact that small villages like this have such distinctive and eye-catching buildings makes them special. The view of the building on the water and the surrounding woods look like a suitable setting for a new horror series. The cats seem to have claimed the area. They don't allow anyone to approach.

That's very true! It was a pity we could not explore the building itself.

Wow!
What a fantastic journey you're taking us on!
Beautiful post!

Thank you!

🙏

It's a lovely site. When you arrive there, you'll feel incredibly relaxed, and the cat is so cute and stunning, as if it's guarding the large mansion and waiting for something.

He was the guardian boss :D

Incredible photos! The location is genuinely stunning, with its breathtaking vistas and engaging landscape. It seems to have so much of that peaceful and whimsical ambiance about it absolutely a destination to be tried. Thanks so much for sharing these incredible pics.

It was a very nice and relaxing place indeed :)
Thanks for the visit!

You didn't know what was better... 😂 Of course the feline company and being there too because it's a nice place. It's not Noah's ark.... But at least it's well preserved with its puddle below.

😀🤗

hahaha puddle 😂
That's pretty accurate thing to describe it!
