I'd just like to preface this post by saying that if the community accounts could've been kept viable, then I'd be staying here. That said, while the rewards for the community will no longer be active, the community itself can still be kept alive.
Keep FreeCompliments Alive!
My vision with creating this community was to make it a bastion of free speech, a place where people can feel comfortable talking about their mental health, and spread love and joy. While the rewards will no longer be a feature, you can still post here and keep it alive with its primary intention.
Just follow the three basic, super broad rules: no plagiarism, no illegal content, and no blatant spam. It's as free and easy as it can get on Hive.
I've spent thousands of hours over the past 2.5 years building this community, much of the process unseen. A lot of time talking to people and building up ways to work on mental health. All the time invested will continue making positive returns as long as the community remains active. Keep it alive!
Regrets?
Small ones. I have no regrets about building the FC Community. I've met many wonderful people along the way who inspired me to better myself. My only regrets are that I won't be building any further, and that I had some interesting prewritten medical posts and chess games that I was going to share. Since I'm leaving Hive, those aren't going to be posted now. But that's ok - writing them was still useful for me, so I'll take the positivity that I can extract from this.
Gratitude and Appreciation
Building a community of this magnitude without having a large stake was no easy task, but it would not have been possible without the members who joined, created, contributed, engaged, and helped me make decisions along the way. The community is powerful, and I appreciate all of you for what you have done and will continue to do. You are amazing, and I hope you never forget that.
To those who disagreed with me along the way, I respect our differences of opinion. The world would not be interesting if we all thought the same way. Plus, the discussions that flower from our differences sometimes make us learn very interesting things, and I've definitely learned along the way.
To those who wanted to see me fail because of our differences in opinion, well that's not going to happen. I'll be moving on to greener pastures, which is my way of winning in my own life. I will not wish you ill; on the contrary, I hope that you will find the peace of mind to do better and bring positivity to those around you.
I wish you all the best, my friends.
Next Plans
After quitting Hive, I'm going to undelegate gradually (so that the projects don't suffer sudden drops) and sell off the 2nd layer assets gradually (also to avoid sharp price drops due to low liquidity). I've delegated to projects that I like, and I want to see them thrive.
As I gradually undelegate, I'll still continue earning some 2nd layer tokens. For my inaugural members, I'll be giving each tagged one on the list 1 LGN and 100 CCD for their loyalty. It will probably take me some time to get through all of these, but I'll send out several per day until everyone has been given this final reward. I'll also be sending some additional 2nd layer tokens to the people who have stuck by FC very closely, as well as some who may have come later but have been very active in keeping FC thriving.
After undelegating, I'll unstake my Hive and possibly either trade it around, convert it to HBD, or convert it to $BTC. I still intend to use the financial portion of Hive, particularly when trying to play the $BTC cycles (i.e. selling at my estimation of the top by converting to Hive --> converting to HBD --> staking for 15% APR until my estimate of the bottom of the cycle). If I mess up and the cycle breaks, so be it... the APR is still very good!
Reach Me Outside of Hive
For those who are interested in keeping in touch, Discord would be a good starting point. If you want to know me personally, I can share my Facebook page through a secure e-mail (ProtonMail). I haven't posted on Facebook for about 5 years and rarely log into it, but at this point, it's probably the only remaining social media profile I'll retain.
Personal Updates
Mom is getting better. I prescribed her some antibiotics because she was prone to sinus infections, and I think she began taking them just in time because her symptoms worsened for a day. She's still not back to her normal state, but definitely improving. We're going to attend that art show I mentioned. I'll ensure that she feels even better by that time.
Prioritizing my mental and physical health is something that I will continue to do from this point forward. Given the recent circumstances, leaving Hive is exactly the right thing for me to do in order to make this happen. It's up to me to determine how to make my life the happiest that it can be, and I will be making choices in favor of this as I move along in life. Life is too short to spend it being unhappy and unfulfilled.
I'm not getting any younger here, and its's high time for me to find a significant other. Maybe the time I don't spend on Hive will now be partially spent on this very important activity, lol!
As I'm graduating residency soon (I've already completed all the important rotations, so there's nothing to hold me back from this in June), I'll be moving on to my attending career this summer / early fall. My earning potential will substantially increase. The amount of time I spend on Hive would not come even close to being as profitable as taking up an extra shift or seeing an extra 1-2 patients. While money is by far not everything, it's important that I value my time appropriately.
My family members' health will still be a priority for me. They've had a rough year and I want to help push them towards a better state of health, if possible. Or at the very least, slow down a downward progression. Even though I don't always show it as I should, they are more important to me than anything else in this world.
All in all, I look forward to building myself a happier life. Let's open this new door. I'm now free.
